In April 2026, Wings of God hosted a special Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, and what a sweet evening it was. We are so incredibly grateful for every volunteer who pours into this ministry throughout the year. Our core volunteers—mentors, teachers, transportation drivers, chaplains, and morning muscle leaders—show up faithfully. Many serve every month, and plenty serve every single week.
As Jodie, our House Manager, shared, “They are an extension of God’s love in a very real and tangible way.” And that’s exactly what the night felt like. We enjoyed a delicious hot potato bar, spent time getting to know one another, shared meaningful stories about serving the Lord, and celebrated the joy of ministering to the Pearls.
And woven throughout the whole evening was one beautiful theme: each volunteer felt blessed and ministered to along the way.
Jodie Coats, House Manager, shared this at the dinner:
“Tonight is one of my favorite nights of this year, because it’s a chance to pause and truly
recognize something that often happens quietly, behind the scenes, and without expectation of
recognition… and that is each one of you—our volunteers.
At Wings of God, we often talk about transformation, healing, and restoration. But the truth is,
those things don’t just happen within the walls of our homes—they happen through people.
Through hands that serve, hearts that listen, and lives that are willing to show up.
And that’s what each of you does.
You show up.
Not just physically—but emotionally, spiritually, and faithfully.
There are so many stories I could share tonight, and honestly, five minutes doesn’t even begin
to cover the impact you’ve made. But I do want to highlight just a couple recent moments that
reflect the heart of what volunteering at Wings of God really looks like.
Amanda, you signed up to provide transportation—a simple act on paper. But what you did went
far beyond that. You didn’t just drop a Pearl off at an appointment… you walked in with her. You
sat beside her in a moment that felt overwhelming and uncertain. And in that space, you offered
not just presence, but Godly wisdom, comfort, and strength.
That moment may have seemed small to you—but to her, it was everything. It was safety. It was
love. It was a reminder that she was not alone.
And Amy—what an incredible picture of going the extra mile. You didn’t just invite a Pearl to a
women’s retreat… you invited her into something life-changing. You took her out of state, into an
environment filled with God’s presence, and then had the privilege of baptizing her.
Think about that.
You were part of a moment where her old life was laid down, and a new life in Christ began.
That is not just volunteering. That is eternal impact.
And what’s so powerful is this—those are just two stories out of many.
Each conversation.
Each ride.
Each walk.
Each cup of coffee.
Each prayer.
Each moment of simply being there.
You may never fully know the weight of what those moments mean to the Pearls. You may not
see the full picture of how God uses something you said, or did, or even just how you showed
up—but I can promise you this:
It matters.
More than you know.
There are seeds being planted through you every single day. Seeds of hope, of truth, of identity,
of love. And those seeds are taking root in hearts that once felt forgotten, broken, or lost.
We could not do this ministry without you.
Not even close.
Wings of God is not just a program—it is a community. And that community is built on people
who are willing to give their time, their energy, and their hearts… just like you have.
You are an extension of God’s love in a very real and tangible way.
And while I can’t possibly name every story tonight, please hear this clearly:
We see you.
We appreciate you.
And we are so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.
Thank you for saying yes.
Thank you for showing up.
And thank you for allowing God to work through your lives in such a powerful way.
Because of you, lives are changing.
Forever.”
