A Christ-Centered Transition Home for Men

Equipping men to break free from the stronghold of addiction within the safety of a Christ centered home as they strive to pursue a life giving, hope filled legacy rooted in Jesus Christ.

Why a Transition Home for Men?

The Legacy House will be a home for men who desire knowing the TRUTH and to be SET FREE from the affect of poor life choices.

 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. John 8:32

Program participants will need to be open to developing Christian faith, through the spiritual awakening of who God is. We ask that you come as you are!

Men desiring a positive life change will be Restored, Affirmed, Strengthened, and Established through knowing the Love of Jesus Christ.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10

Chain Breaking Goals:

  • Move beyond addiction and diligently grow in confidence in Christ
  • Work with commitment to 40 hr week
  • Responsibly pay program participant fees weekly/monthly.
  • Establish healthy family relationships

The Wings of God Legacy House for Men is anticipating opening in the Fall of 2022. The Wings of God Board is currently conducting a needs survey from currently incarcerated men, jail chaplains, and other community stakeholders.

COMMUNITY QUESTIONS

What is Wings of God Legacy House for Men? 

Wings of God, Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located at 310 N Kalamazoo St, Paw Paw, MI 49079. This mission has served previously incarcerated women since 2012. To date 99 women have participated in the program and 217 children have been impacted. The mission of Wings of God is expanding to serve men in our community with the Wings of God Legacy House for Men. This home will accommodate up to six program participants. 

QUESTION:  What is the purpose of Wings of God Legacy House for Men?

ANSWER:  The purpose of the Legacy House is to equip men to break free from the stronghold of addiction within the safety of a Christ Centered home as they strive to pursue a life giving, hope-filled legacy rooted in Jesus Christ.

The Legacy House for Men is NOT: 

This is not a half-way house, a homeless shelter, emergency housing,  jail, KPEP, adult daycare, a mental health institution, a domestic violence shelter, or bed and breakfast.

QUESTION:  How are the Wings of God participants chosen?

ANSWER: There is an application and interview process for men seeking to participate in the program. 

    • Applicants must complete the Wings of God, Inc. Legacy House Application. The online form is available at https://wingsofgodinc.org
    • A comprehensive interview will take place to assess eligibility.
  • Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) registered sex offenders or chronic violent offenders are not eligible for the program. 
  • Men who apply to the program have a desire and willingness for change. They recognize their need for support and accountability. Men who are accepted into the program have made the decision to submit to the boundaries, guidelines and loving mentorship. 

QUESTION: How is the Wings of God Legacy House supervised?

ANSWER:  There is a live-in House Supervisor who will report to three House Managers. The House Managers report to the House Director.

QUESTION:  What happens if someone breaks the rules or house policies? Or tests positive for drugs or alcohol? 

ANSWER:  Each participant signs a participant handbook which includes the rules of conduct and consequences for breaking these rules, including testing positive for drugs or alcohol. Consequences may include immediate dismissal from the program.

QUESTION: Will this home decrease the value of homes in the neighborhood?  

ANSWER: There are two homes that are currently operated by Wings of God, Inc. – Wings of God Transition Home for Women at 310 N Kalamazoo Street in Paw Paw and Wings of God Next Step Family Home at 410 E Michigan Ave. in Paw Paw.  Both homes underwent extensive renovation and are well maintained. Both houses on either side of the Wings of God Transition Home for Women recently went up for sale and both houses quickly sold and appear to have sold at market value. 

QUESTION: How long can someone participate and live at the Wings of God Legacy House? 

ANSWER: This is a one year program. 

QUESTION: What are the requirements for living there?  

ANSWER: Men will be required to commit to a full time job, routine attendance at the church of their choice, and responsibly pay program participant fees. Participants will regularly test for drug and alcohol, participate in community addiction recovery classes, and follow all court ordered requirements if applicable. This home is for men who are open to developing Christian faith, through the spiritual awakening of who God is and a desire for a positive life change.

QUESTION: How is Wings of God, Inc. funded? 

ANSWER: Wings of God Transition Home does not receive any state or federal money. We are funded by donations from our community which includes individuals, churches, businesses and in some cases program participation fees.

QUESTION: I am concerned about men wandering around. How will this be managed?

While all of the men in the program are expected to work, participants may not own a car, therefore, they will be expected to walk to and from work. Consequences will be enforced if the participant disregards the house guidelines.

QUESTION: Why did you choose this house? 

ANSWER:  The home at 105 Oak Street is zoned within the R-2 – Transitional Housing district.

This neighborhood will provide a safe, non-threatening environment for our participants as they pursue their journey of healing.
