Wings of God Jail Ministry – Sharing the Gospel at Van Buren County Jail
Wings of God now offers an active Jail Ministry, reaching women behind bars with the transformative power of the Gospel. A dedicated team of nine women volunteers serves every Tuesday at the Van Buren County Jail, with two team members leading interactive Bible studies for groups of 3 to 10 incarcerated women who sign up to participate. These sessions provide a sacred space to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, bringing words of life from God’s Word that offer genuine hope, forgiveness, and healing to hearts in need.
This outreach flows from the heart of Wings of God Transition Home’s mission to support women impacted by incarceration through Christ-centered love and restoration. As our volunteers stepped into this calling during their initial onboarding in October 2025, their honest reflections captured the faith and obedience driving this ministry:
“I have always been interested. I always had a heart for jail ministry, but not courage.” — Pat
“God has been laying on my heart to have a jail ministry. I am very comfortable going into jail. People deserve love, attention, and hope.” — Jodie
“This scares me, but I prayed at the first of the year that I would walk through any door God opened.” — Sheila
“Jail ministry was not on my radar – I thought, what can I offer? But I prayed about it and God says – just do it.” — Sheryl
These voices reflect the courageous “yes” to God’s prompting, turning hesitation into action and fear into faithful service. Through these weekly gatherings, lives are being touched with the hope only Jesus provides, extending the love of Christ into places of deep brokenness. We praise God for opening this door and pray for continued fruit, open hearts, and His sustaining grace in every session.
