Mentor Mission Statement
To partner with Wings of God residents to provide spiritual support and encourage them as they journey through their transition.

Mentor Purpose

Definition of a Mentor
An influential Christian encourager.

What Is Mentoring?
It is a deliberate, conscious, voluntary relationship, which may or may not have a specific time limit, of modeling and supporting appropriate behavior.

Mentor’s Role
To accept them for who they are but not wanting to keep them where they are, by encouraging and supporting them in spiritual and personal growth.

Qualifications

• A solid Christian active in their local church.
• An emotionally stable and mature Christian.
• Willing to learn and have one hour/weekly to invest in this program.
• Ability to listen.
• Realistic expectation of the mentee’s receptiveness and cooperation.
• Have a genuine desire to help mentees transition.
• Ability to adapt to constructive criticism.
• Willingness to meet with the House Manager Quarterly for feedback & advice.  

Responsibilities of a Mentor

• The goal is to promote confidence and competence in women as they transition.
• Model a healthy lifestyle.
• To provide encouragement, support, and inspiration to the mentee.
• To work as a part of a team to help your mentee reenter society with a strong foundation.
• To motivate and assist your mentee in financial responsibility.
• To encourage your mentee to make her own decisions and walk through the possible consequences.
• A one-year volunteer commitment to the program.
• Weekly contact with mentees in person.
• To understand that gifts need to be limited; when in doubt, talk to the staff of Wings of God. As a general rule, gifts should not exceed small items of $5 or less, without staff approval.
• To refrain from taking Pearls anywhere where alcohol is served and marijuana is sold.
